Stay Grounded Through the Season Change
Hello! So nice to see you back here.
School is back in session and we have our two boys home this year, going our own pace and taking a slightly different approach to learning in our own home environment. I am excited for it (though this new chapter does not come without feeling slightly overwhelmed and asking many questions such as: Will it work? Am I doing enough? Will they learn what they need? And all those other questions that might sound familiar to you veteran home educating mamas.)
Now, to stay grounded —
not only through this big change for our own family, but also through the shift of the seasons (that fall feeling has me wanting to re-arrange the entire home and create cozy reading nooks, although it’s still technically summer and a gazillion degrees outside), I thought I would share with you some quick and easy grounding essential oil blends to try out and keep handy.
(You can make an aromatherapy roll-on at home, or I am always happy to craft one for you, ready to use and enjoy — just message me through Facebook if you are local to the Ramona, CA area, or reach out / order via my small Etsy shop.)
Essential Oils for Staying Grounded
These are my favorite, always-keeping-these-handy essential oils to re-center, focus, and ground myself.
I like to use them in specific synergies (blends) to create a lovely nature inspired aroma.
Rich, herbaceous earthy, with a floral under-note.
3 drops Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin)
2 drops Clary Sage (Salvia sclarea)
2 drops Vetiver (Chrysopogon zizanioides)
1 drop Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata)
Resinous, soil-like, slightly musky.
4 drops Frankincense (Boswellia carterii)
2 drops Patchouli (Pogostemon cablin)
5 drops Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica)
Woodsy, warm, and grounding.
2 drops Vetiver (Chrysopogon zizanioides)
3 drops Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris)
3 drops Cedarwood (Cedrus atlantica)
That crisp-autumn-morning-walk-in-the-forest feeling, fresh, bright.
1 drop Juniper (Juniperus communis L.)
2 drops Idaho Fir (Abies grandis)
1 drop Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris)
4-5 drops Bergamot (Citrus bergamia) (alternatively Sweet Orange - Citrus sinensis)
Bring the season inside!
You can also use these synergies in a diffuser to make your home smell just like the lovely outdoors. It is health-friendlier than artificially scented candles and sets a lovely atmosphere in your cozy home.
Read more here for tips on how to actually put those diffusers to use.
