Thank you for taking the time to learn more about who I am, what I do, and how I got to where I am today with Aroma Infused Living.
Wife, mother of three, believer, immigrant, simpler | slower | plant-infused | holistic living enthusiast, empathetic soul, and certified aromatherapist.
Sums it up pretty well. But of course, there’s always so much more.
I am a storyteller and creative at heart; I love quiet, early mornings with a hot cup of coffee, reading, in our little country home in southern California. I am happiest when out in nature, just hearing the rustling leaves and chirping birds. And I have a soft spot for handmade and local goodies.
I’m a homebody and - what others would call it - an “old soul”. Being out in nature feels therapeutic. I enjoy cozy soul talks and honest relationships. I am extremely empathetic and a very good listener because as I myself have gone through phases of intense anxiety throughout my life. I love watching my children play as they live a carefree childhood, raising them in dirt and sunshine.
I believe in kindness and it brings me joy to give — for that smile a little homemade something, an encouraging word, or act of service puts on someone’s face.
During my thirty something years of living and breathing on this earth, I’ve worn many hats, done different things and lived in various places (abroad). I have come to learn the true value of good mental health — and how our physiological, mental, emotional, as well as spiritual components are greatly intertwined.
One of the most profound changes happened when I left my home country Germany and embraced new opportunities in southern California years ago.
It’s where I met my wonderful husband and where we are now nurturing three precious little souls. They are the seeds we carefully grow and why I have chosen to simplify my family’s (home) life, introduce essential oils, herbal preparations, and radically switch to plant-infused products.
I have always been intrigued by more natural living, never liked to really opt for the drug before not at least going a more natural route. As a family, we are exploring alternative ways of “living and doing” - if going back to the roots (the old ways?) is considered alternative these days.
Plants have been used in many ways for thousands of years — effectively. Essential oils, distilled or expressed from different parts of the plant, have incredible therapeutic actions and, hence, can be used in personal and home care products.
I couldn't ignore that little voice anymore as my passion for living more simply, more plant-centered, grew — particularly after my first son was born — and started my Aromatherapy Certification Program through the School for Aromatic Studies while mothering a not-even-three and under one-year old.
Aromatherapy is an incredible holistic tool. However, it is not the only natural tool that supports optimal wellness. Sleep, movement, a whole foods diet, for instance, are all crucial parts of “whole” health.
I strongly believe that we are deeply inter-connected with Mother Nature. And that our bodies have innate healing abilities that we can support with the right tools — naturally. Unfortunately, that human-plant connection doesn’t seem to come naturally anymore these days. But I do believe therein lies great power, if only we can tap back into this natural symbiosis.
Synthetic fragrances and harmful chemicals are found in many products. Hundreds of those ingredients allowed in the U.S. are, in comparison, banned in the European Union. It’s saddening me that we are required to dig deeper only to educate ourselves on truly natural - and not just “green-washed” - brands.
Sadly, we carry a very heavy toxic burden these days. But it doesn’t have to be difficult or expensive to choose plant-infused options for personal and home care.
Knowledge is the greatest power and the more we know, the better we can make choices that serve us and our families best. None of us will ever have a one hundred percent “toxin free” home and thinking this is possible is unrealistic, in my opinion. We all do what we can, with the resources and (financial) means available. It starts with awareness - and tiny steps.
Ever since we have switched to products that are truly natural, containing fewer but effective ingredients, we have ditched many toxins at home. I feel so much better knowing my kids are safe here, especially as their bodies still develop. But, all this has happened over the course of a few years, and it’s still an ever-evolving process: a lifestyle.
Because I truly believe that it all starts at home. It’s where wholesomeness is planted; little seeds are grown.
All this has led me to opening my small etsy shop, where I can combine my enthusiasms for creatively hand crafted items, a more plant-based lifestyle, as well as simplifying essential oil infused products for others to add to their holistic toolbox as a way to support their family’s wellness — naturally.
I believe there’s a reason I’ve been nudged onto this path of serving others with personalized aromatic and herbal preparations for both the physical body, mind, and spirit; educating on living health-friendlier on a budget; as well as bringing truly clean products into your home.
I could go on and on, but I am realizing that this little intro is just a little longer than I wanted it to be. And my coffee is cold now. But that is part of my daily mama life in general. (I know I will miss this season one day.)
I am hoping this space, as it evolves, will be of value to you. Connect with me on instagram or reach out with any questions you may have. I’m here to walk with you on this path of whole living.
